The Peewee AAA is still looking for one additional player for the 2017 rep baseball season. If you are interested, please contact Evan Kirsh at firstname.lastname@example.org or 647-960-4511.
The North Toronto A’s invite all players born in 2004 who are interested in competitive baseball to try out for the 2017 North Toronto Baseball Association Peewee AAA Rep Team.
In keeping with the NCCP Baseball Model of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD), these young athletes fall into the FUNdamental Learn to Train Categories. We will be emphasizing skill development, training and the importance of having FUN. Our program will focus on creating a fun and positive experience, developing young competitive baseball players, and instilling a love of baseball with heavy emphasis on teamwork.
While one of our main focuses will be fielding a competitive team on the field, the team will be built on a culture of camaraderie, sportsmanship and winning or losing as a team. Our objective is for every player to end the season feeling as if they have had an excellent overall experience.
The team will have an active spring schedule and a lighter summer schedule than typical competitive teams. The A’s will practice indoors once a week beginning mid-January (understanding that players have hockey, school sport and other commitments) and outdoor spring training will begin in April, 2017.
The A’s will play or practice three to four times each week in the spring, and will enter four to five tournaments over the course of the season, and at least two of them will be travel tournaments. The team will take a 2 week break at the beginning of July. Players’ attendance at overnight camp and vacations should be scheduled for July. We will be unable to consider players who will be away for more than 4 weeks. Players are expected to be available for all of August, in order to prepare for the city playoffs (TBA’s) and must be available for the TBA’s (August 11 -13, 2017) and the Provincial Championships (Labour Day Weekend). Please do not attend the tryouts if you will be unable to meet the minimum commitment.
Please note that there is a significant financial commitment as well. Depending on sponsorship, player costs are expected to be approximately $1,500 to $2,000, including league fees, primarily to pay for winter training, uniforms and equipment.
Players will be selected on the basis of:
* Athleticism and skill
* Attitude and Coachability
* Level of commitment to attend practices, games and tournaments to ensure consistency of play and development as a team
