Team Selection - Players will be selected on the basis of:

1) attitude and coachability;

2) level of commitment to attend practices, games and tournaments to ensure consistency of play and development as a team; and

3) athleticism and skill

No previous Rep or Select level baseball experience is required. All players will receive equal consideration.

Practices – Outdoor practices will commence in late April or early May (weather dependent). The practice schedule will not be finalized until field permits are obtained in early spring however based on prior years the team expects to practice Saturday and Sunday mornings in April/May/June. During July and August the weekend morning practice will be moved to one or two weekday practices. All practices will take place at Sentinel Park.

Games – The team will participate in the Toronto Baseball Association and will also play an “interlock” with teams from York-Simcoe Baseball Association. The regular season will consist of 18-22 games starting in early May and running to mid-August. The team will have one home game time slot per week, the day of the week for home games will be selected in early 2017 based on coaches’ and field availability. Away games can be any day of the week, Saturdays games are unusual. Home games take place at Sentinel Park. The Head Coach may also occasionally schedule additional games (e.g.  exhibition, make-up games for rain-outs, etc.). Generally, there are no games scheduled on the Victoria Day, Canada Day or Civic Holiday long weekends.

Tournaments – The team expects to participate in 3-5 tournaments, with 2-3 in May/June and 1-2 in late July early August. As well the team will look at playing in one US tournament in late April/early May.

Summer Break - The team will take a 3 week break at the start of July. Players’ attendance at overnight camp and family vacations should be scheduled for this period.

Winter Training – The team will practice indoors with professional coaches one day a week starting in January through to mid-April. Day of the week will be determined based on availability of facility and with the least amount of hockey conflicts amongst the team.

Players are expected to attend all practices and games scheduled in August, including on weekends.

All players must be available to attend the Toronto Baseball Association (“TBA”) city playoffs on August,18-20, 2017 and the Ontario Baseball Association (“OBA”) provincial championships September 1-3, 2017.

A minimum 75% attendance is expected for the practices, games and tournaments and 100% attendance for TBA and OBA championships.

Please do not attend the tryouts if you will be unable to meet the minimum attendance commitment.

Please note there is a significant financial commitment as well. Depending on sponsorship, player costs are expected to be $1,800-$2,000, primarily to pay for training, uniforms, equipment and tournaments. Any remaining funds in the team account will be refunded at the end of the season. Team uniform fittings will take place in fall 2016.

Players that do not make the Rep team can sign up for North Toronto house league and if enough interest NTBA may field a Select team for those registered in the NTBA house league program and will take place in the spring of 2017. Registration for NTBA house league begins November 1st, 2016.
