Mosquito AA

The North Toronto A’s invite all players born in 2006 who are interested in competitive baseball to try out for the 2017 North Toronto A’s Mosquito AA Rep Team.  All Players must contact us before tryouts. Selection shall be at the sole discretion of the Head Coach.

In keeping with the NCCP Baseball Model of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD), we will be emphasising skill development, proper training and the importance of having FUN!  Our program will focus on creating a fun and positive experience, developing young competitive baseball players, and instilling a love of baseball with heavy emphasis on teamwork.



Thursday September 8th 6:00pm-8:15pm(June Rowlands Park - Davisville)

Saturday September 10th 6pm-7:30pm (Memorial Park)

Sunday September 11th 6pm to 7:30pn (Memorial Park – if necessary)

Locations:  Memorial Park – 340 Chaplin Crescent, Toronto, ON  M5N 2N3

                          June Rowlands Park - 220 Davisville Avenue, Toronto, ON

Attendance at all of the tryouts is not required; however, attendance impacts the coaches’ ability to fully evaluate each player.

Be prepared for tryout times and dates to get delayed due to weather.  We will do our best to run the tryouts on the days and times above.   


Please wear a numbered shirt and arrive at least 15 minutes early for the first try-out to register.

Team Selection - Players will be selected on the basis of:

1)     attitude and coachability;

2)     level of commitment to attend practices, games and tournaments to ensure consistency of play and development as a team; and

3)     athleticism and skill


No previous Rep or Select level baseball experience is required.  All players will receive equal consideration.



Indoor Practices – 12 to 15 indoor practices will commence starting in January.   All players will be charged an equal amount for the team indoor practices.  Day of the week will be determined based on availability of facility.

Outdoor Practices - Practices will commence in late April or early May (weather dependent). The practice schedule will not be finalized until field permits are obtained in early spring however based on prior years the team expects to practice Saturday and/or Sunday with a possibility for a weekday practice in April/May/June.  During July and August we will attempt to move the weekend practice to Sunday evening and/or one or two weekday practices.

Games – The team will participate in the Toronto Baseball Association and will also play an “interlock” with teams from York-Simcoe Baseball Association.  The regular season will consist of 18-22 games starting in early May and running to mid-August.  The team will have one home game time slot per week, the day of the week for home games will be selected in early 2017 based on coaches’ availability and field allocations.  Away games can be any day of the week, except Saturdays.  Home games take place at Memorial Park.  The Head Coach may also occasionally schedule exhibition games or make-up games for rain-outs at different times.

Tournaments – The team expects to participate in 2-4 tournaments, with 1-2 in May/June and 1-2 in late July early August.

Summer Break - The team will take 2 to 3 week break at the beginning July, this is dependent on the convenor being able to grant us our Black Out request.  Players’ attendance at overnight camp and family vacations should be scheduled for this period.


All players must be available to attend the Toronto Baseball Association (“TBA”) city playoffs on August, 18-20, 2017 and the Ontario Baseball Association (“OBA”) provincial championships September 1-4, 2017.

A minimum 80% attendance is expected for the outdoor practices, games and tournaments. 100% starting after the team break in July to prepare for the TBA’s. 

Please do not attend the tryouts if you will be unable to meet the minimum attendance commitment.

Please note there is a significant financial commitment as well. Depending on sponsorship, player costs are expected to be $1,700-2,000, primarily to pay for training, uniforms, equipment and tournaments. Team equipment fittings will take place in January 2017.
