TORONTO BASEBALL ASSOCIATION
PEEWEE (1993) ALL STAR TEAM
PARENT INFORMATION - 2006
Coaches: Steve Schafer (Head Coach) - 416-522-5493; steve.schafer@rogers.com
Mark Gain; Martin Greig
Tryouts:
At the Hangar, 75 Carl Hall Road, April 29, 1:30-3PM; April 30,
3:30-5PM
Games
and playoffs: We expect around 20 regular league games, May through
early August. We will request that minimal games be scheduled during
July since lots of players are away. The games will be played at
a variety of fields around the city. Playoffs will most likely be
on the weekend of August 11-14, but this has not been finalized
Home
games: Thursday evening at Eglinton Park, South field. See www.ntbaseball.com
for locations.
Practices:
Once per week, Sunday evening for 2 hours at Viewmount. The time
will be adjusted according to the time it starts to get dark. Some
other times at batting cages will also be arranged.
Tournaments:
The plan is as follows:
(1) Guelph May 26-28 (2) Whitby, June 16-18 (Both are within driving
distance.)
Team
Roster: We will go with about 12-13 players and also have some
backups. Ability to commit to attend games and practices will affect
player selection.
Overall
team philosophy and objectives:
- Have
fun;
- Develop
baseball knowledge and skills; and
- Learn
team concepts (teamwork, positive attitude, commitment, responsibility,
best effort)
Playing
time and positions:
- No
player will sit out more than 3½ innings (games are normally
7 innings);
- These
3½ inning rests will be rotated equally except in critical
situations;
- We
will focus players on 1 position and 1 backup position (decided
by the coaches), as opposed to the house league rotation philosophy;
and
- Over
the season, every player will average 2 innings/game or more in
the infield. There is no commitment to equality in this regard.
Cost:
$275
Player
and parent commitment will be a big contributor to our success this
summer. Let's play ball!
