Mosquito Select

This is to remind all 2010 North Toronto Mosquito houseleague players of the select team tryouts scheduled for April 17, 18 and 24. If you plan to attend the tryouts, please email paul@goldbach.ca to confirm your attendance, if you have not already done so, so we can have an idea of our numbers.

Please download the sign-up sheet below and bring it to the tryouts. All players are asked to wear a coloured and number jersey for ease of identification, and to wear the same jersey to each of the sessions.

North Toronto Baseball Association invites all players born in 1999 and 2000 who are interested in competitive baseball to try out for the 2010 North Toronto Mosquito Select team. The select program offers players with the appropriate skill level and desire to play more competitive baseball.

Our program focuses on the development of young competitive baseball players in a fun, constructive and positive environment.

Tryouts:

Saturday, April 17 @ 3pm
Sunday, April 18 @ 2 pm
Sunday, April 25@ 2 pm (by invitation only – a $15 fee will apply)

Memorial Field (Chaplin Crescent and Spadina Road)

Attendance at both of the initial tryouts is not required; however, attendance at both will give the coaches a better opportunity to fully evaluate each player.

Please wear a numbered shirt, bring your baseball glove and wear your baseball cleats, athletic clothing and a protective jock.

Schedule (tentative):
Games – Sundays at 6:30 pm (Davisville Park is our home field)

Practices – Saturday mornings 8:30 am (springtime). Practice schedule may be switched to weekday evenings (summertime).

Tournaments – It is anticipated the team will play in the following tournaments:
1. June 25-27 (Oakville)
2. July 24-25 (Westhill)
3. July 2-4 (Brampton – TBD)
4. August 20-22 (City Championship)
If we qualify at the City Championship tournament, we will be invited to play in the provincial tournament on the Labour Day weekend. All players must be available to play for at least one of the Oakville and Westhill tournaments and for both the city championship and provincial tournaments.

Vacation Dates

We understand that vacation and camp are a very important part of family life and child development. However, we cannot develop a team with players that will miss substantial portions of games and practices. Specifically, we will not consider players who are away for more than 4 weeks. All players must be available to play for at least one of the Oakville and Westhill tournaments and for both the city championship and provincial tournaments.

Team Commitment:

Our focus in assembling a team will include evaluating a player’s level of commitment to attend practices, games and tournaments to ensure consistency of play and development as a team. We will be looking for players born in both 1999 and 2000 to facilitate a carryover of talent for the 2011 season. In addition to the players who make the team, a number of players will be selected as call-ups who will be invited to attend games and tournaments on an as needed basis, and will be invited to attend all practices. Please do not attend the tryouts if you will be unable to meet the minimum attendance commitment.

NOTE: ROSTERED NTBA Mosquito SELECT PLAYERS are NOT EXEMPT from NTBA Mosquito House League play.
