NORTH TORONTO Minor Mosquito AA ("NT Storm") (Players Born in 2002)

Tryouts for the North Toronto Minor Mosquito AA ("NT Storm) to be held on:

i)   Sunday, September 18, 4pm-6pm (Memorial Park)
ii)  Saturday September 24, 10am-noon (Memorial Park)

North Toronto Baseball will field two competitive Minor Mosquito rep teams in 2012. The NT Storm is a AA team designed for strong athletes who are keen to play competitive baseball but who seek more flexibility for camp/cottage in the summer months. The team will have an active spring schedule and a lighter summer schedule than typical competitive rep teams.

The Storm will have a modest voluntary winter practice schedule (understanding that players have hockey and other commitments) and spring training will begin in April, 2012. 

The Storm will play or practice 2-3 times each week (home games at Memorial Park, behind the Forest Hill hockey arena), and will likely enter two tournaments in May/June, at least one of them a travel tournament.  Players will need to return from summer vacation by mid-August, ahead of the city playoffs (TBAs) and to prepare for the Provincial Championships over labour day weekend.

The Storm was first established by a group of coaches several years ago determined to offer a high quality rep baseball experience for players looking for more flexibility in the summer months. 2011 was the final year for the original Storm team (players born in 1997), with the team going 18-0 in Minor Bantam AA, the only undefeated team among all 149 rep teams in the league (all ages, all divisions), ultimately making it to the quarter-finals of the 2011 Provincial Championships.

In 2012 the coaches of the NT Storm will return to Minor Mosquito, to create a new team for 2002 aged players, with the same team philosophy.  The focus of the Storm is to

1) teach and instill a love of baseball,
2) field a highly competitive team, and
3) create a fun and positive experience for all of the players on the team. 

Assistant coaches on the new Storm will include high school players who played for the undefeated Storm team in 2011.

Saturday, September 24, 10am-noon @ Memorial Park

Players must attend at least one of the two tryouts to be considered for the team; please wear a hat or shirt with a number so the players can be easily identified at the tryout.

The try-outs are open to all players born in 2002 and the team will play in the Tier 2 Minor Mosquito division in 2012.  Players do not need to have prior baseball experience ; the focus at the tryouts will be to identify great kids who are outstanding athletes with a positive attitude and who the coaches believe have the potential to develop into strong baseball players.
